“How to Keep Soft Bait On the Hook and Catch More Catfish – My Bait Bag System That Works”
If you’ve ever lost your bait right when a catfish bites, you know how frustrating it is. Time after time you bait up with chicken liver or any other soft bait you make your cast… and before you know it, the bait is gone. That’s why I developed the bait-bag system at Mossy Head Bait Company — designed specifically to keep soft, fragrant bait locked on the hook, so you land more catfish.
How to Keep Soft Bait On the Hook and Catch More Catfish
If you’ve ever lost your bait just as a catfish committed, you know how frustrating it is. Using soft bait really entice the catfish to bite but are so difficult to keep on the hook, or even to cast. Either the bait falls off or the fish picks it off the hook. That’s exactly why we created our bait-bag wrap system at Mossy Head Bait Company — designed specifically to keep any bait locked on the hook so you land more catfish.

Why Soft Bait Matters for Catfish
Almost all Catfish bait concoctions are soft or simi-soft both the ones you make and the ones you buy. Natural bait like chicken liver are favorites of many Cat Anglers and thawed out baits like Shad are very soft. All these baits are great for Catfish but are a pain to keep on the hook.
That’s where our bait bag wrap system steps in:
The wrap (bait bag) uses durable mesh that secures the bait, yet still allows scent to diffuse.
The mesh takes on the color of your bait internally (anchovy so it blends naturally.
It prevents bait loss during casting or when the rig contacts cover. More bait in the water = more fish on the line.
How to Rig It (And How You Can Replicate It)
Here’s the step-by-step rigging process I use (and show in the video):
Grab the bait bag wraps with bait loading tube built by Mossy Head Bait Company.
Insert the bait loading tube half way into the bait bag, then drop your bait in the bag, remove loading tube
Thread your hook through one edge of the open end of the bag, then through the other edge
Twist the bag bag until the bag bag mesh tightens up around the bait then insert the hook in the middle of the bag. The hook will rest right next to the bag making you offering somewhat weedless.
Cast into the cover zone: around logs, submerged weeds, stumps, or along drop edges where catfish often hide. The wrap secures your bait through both the cast and the soak.
Wait for a pick-up. Set hard. See why this system works when the bait stays on and the fish never know what hit them.
Why Our System from Mossy Head Bait Company Stands Out
When compared to other mesh bag systems heres why ours outperforms the competition
Our competitors often use very heavy mesh. A real overkill which interfers with the maximum amout of odor discharge. The bags literally smother the bait.
In contrast, our bait bags are made of a fine nylon mesh, strong but almost translucent freeing odor to do its job-attracting fish. The righ amount of strength and maximum bait exposer
Our bait bag system comes with a bait loading tube designed for our bags and makes loading any bait a snap
There are not strings to tie or any thread needed to close our wraps up. With our system you use the hook to close the bag. Simplicity at its best
